jester baglets

I haven’t been entirely wasting my time lately, believe it or not. Not having got the internet on yet contributes to the general productivity, since I’m not spending all my time reading blogs & playing Elven Blood on Facebook (making your laziness & indecision work for you is too a skill!). Amongst other things – looking for stuff that must be still boxed somewhere, unpacking yet MORE boxes, looking for things that aren’t in those boxes either dammit, walking the small person to daycare/preschool, gardening(!!), and halfassedly keeping the house tidy (feel free to boggle) – mum & I have been sewing. There’s a show/fair thingummy on next month in Port Macquarie run by Zonta which we hope to do well at, so we’ve been trying to make funky things that might appeal to the folks down there either for themselves or as Chrissy gifts. My first effort in this direction is these wee bags:

first
the first one was based on a Vogue pattern, but OMG I had trouble with it (two sodding days to make one piddly bag! I really, REALLY hope nobody has such trouble with my patterns, good grief), so I threw the pattern in the corner and did things my own way. They’re not really that small I guess, probably hold as much as the average clutch. I’ve got two more half-finished – a faux chenille one in antique-looking purples and one from the jacobean-type floral I used in Betrayed – and then I’m going to try manifesting the two other bag ideas rattling round in my head. I’ve been doing a bunch of drawings that I think are intended for nursery hangings of some sort, but I don’t know yet whether they’re going to be quiltlets or collage or paintings. I’ve been painting too, but I’m way out of practice and it’s crap so I’m not sharing :p
